Eat Ice Cream and Lose Weight

Published by admin | Filed under Weight Loss

Something has been bugging me for awhile. I’ve been frustrated with the recent talk about fad diets, weight loss drugs and weight loss surgery. These are great ways to ruin a body. Go from being unhealthy over-weight to being skinning, still unhealthy and with a smaller bank account or debt.

In the past year, I have lost between 35-40 Lbs. Someone asked me the other day what is my secret to losing weight. I said, “eat less calories than I burn”. He laughed me off. My answer was not a smart remark. It was my way of saying that there is no secret to effective weight loss. Eat right and exercise. That’s it. However, it takes work and discipline. It’s not easy, but the rewards are great.

People are dying from fad diets and drugs. Weight loss surgery permanently alters your body. A healthy diet and exercise is a safe way to lose weight. It will also increase your quality and quantity of life.

Check out www.fitnessrocks.org for a great podcast about living a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Monte Ladner, host of the podcast/blog, shares great lessons from medical literature regarding health and fitness. He has a audio book about weight loss that I understand is excellent.

A couple months ago, my father sent me an article with a list of reasons why runners run. I pasted it along to some other runners I know. One runner sent me an email back that he noticed that a very important reason for running was left off the the list. Ice cream!

When you burn 1000 extra calories a day, a little ice cream can be ate without adding weight. If I burn 2000 calories a day just sitting down, then eat 2000 calories in meals, I don’t gain or lose weight. If a burn 1000 calories on a 8 mile run and add a cup of ice cream(340 calories) to my day, I still ate 660 less calories that I burned during the day. This is about 1/5 of a pound of fat. Eat ice cream and lose weight.
