Encouraging Email

Published by admin | Filed under Chicago 2007

I just received this email from the coordinator of the WorldVision team for the 2007 Chicago Marathon. The email was a good reminder.

Sometimes I don’t feel like running.
Sometimes when I go out for a run I feel like quitting.
Sometimes my legs are tired.
Sometimes I’m emotionally drained.
Sometimes I forget how good I feel when [...]

5 weeks to go

Published by admin | Filed under Chicago 2007

Wow. Only 5 weeks(39 days) until the Chicago Marathon. This morning Brian and I ran our speed training. The gates were locked at the track so we decided to drive to Violet Patch Park and run north along the river on the trail. We ran one mile warm up, then three 1 [...]

Successful 20 miles

Published by admin | Filed under Chicago 2007

On Saturday morning, Brian and I ran our 20 miles on the Gilman trail.
I ran the 20 miles slower than I planned, 8:20 mpm.  However, I finished and felt good.
Brian ran 19 miles and walked the last 1 mile.  It has been the first time he has run that distance since last Fall at the [...]

Getting Excited

Published by admin | Filed under Chicago 2007

We had a good run today.  Scott, Brian and I ran 10 miles at our projected marathon pace.   It was hard to keep the pace towards the end. However, I ran at 7:28  mpm average.  My knee is a little sore.  I need to continue icing and stretching.

Bit of a funk

Published by admin | Filed under Chicago 2007

I haven’t written in a while. Lost my enthusiasm for awhile. My knee began to hurt again over the last two weeksand it’s been hot and humid. This all added up to some crummy runs. Last weekend I planned on running 20 miles, but got in only 7.5 slow miles before [...]

New Shoes; Intervals

Published by admin | Filed under Chicago 2007

Last night I made a visit to the Naperville Running Company to buy new shoes. The shoe prices there are more expensive than you can get online, but the service and knowledge is great. Worth the extra expense. At the store I had the opportunity to try on a variety of shoes. I [...]
